Hong Kong prepares to welcome Asia Fruit Logistica

More than 175 exhibitors from all over the world are scheduled to take part at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong in mid September. Companies and organisations from 28 different countries worldwide have signed up to showcase their products and services at the three-day trade fair for the Asian fresh produce business, the only one of its type in the region. It means that Asia Fruit Logistica has grown by over 50% since its launch in Bangkok last year.

Asia Fruit Logistica takes place this year on 10-12 September 2008 at Hong Kong’s prestigious Convention and Exhibition Centre. Some 5,000m2 of exhibition space at the HKCEC have already been reserved for the trade fair, with Asian fresh produce companies and organisations accounting for a majority of the exhibitors.

“Hong Kong is proving to be a major draw for companies and organisations which are keen to take advantage of the very strong growth in the fresh produce market in North Asia in particular,” explained Gérald Lamusse, managing director of GPE Global Produce Events GmbH, the joint-venture company which organises Asia Fruit Logistica.

Asia Fruit Logistica takes place alongside the Asiafruit Congress, Asia’s only conference event for the fresh fruit and vegetable business which has been held annually in Asia since 1997.

“The three-day conference organised by Asiafruit Magazine focuses on some key emerging trends in the Asian food retail and consumer markets as well as focusing on new opportunities in China,” said John Hey, editor of Asiafruit Magazine

Over 3,000 trade visitors from more than 50 countries are expected to attend Asia Fruit Logistica and Asiafruit Congress in Hong Kong this year.

“There has been a lot of interest from retailers and other buyers as well as fresh produce professionals from Asia and the rest of the world,” said Mr Lamusse. “If you have anything to do with the fresh produce business in Asia, this is an event you really must attend.”
