Restructuring of AARI planned

FAISALABAD (August 27 2008): Punjab government has prepared a plan for restructuring of Ayub Agriculture Research Institute (AARI), Faisalabad for improving its efficiency, which will be completed with the total cost of Rs 324.178 million. According to official sources, under `Agriculture Sector Programme-II (ASP-II),` with financial assistance of Asian Development Bank (ABD).


This programme primarily aims at improving agricultural productivity and profitability, particularly, promoting efficient markets for major commodities, including wheat, cotton, rice and sugarcane in order to promote market based incentives for farmers, especially small holders; liberalise markets for fertiliser & seeds.

ASP-II would provide strengthen support services to the small farmers to improve quality control and also help increase autonomy and financial self-reliance of research institutions, sources added.
