Participation in MacFrut Italy (Oct 2009)

MacFrut 2009 is an International Exhibition of Plants, Technologies and Services for the Production, Conditioning, Marketing and Transport of Fruit and Vegetables. Last year major chunk of exhibitors that is 26.8% was related to Fruit and Vegetables Marketing whereas Machines & Technology manufacturers were 16% and Packaging material companies were 14%. Total exhibition area was 30,000 mq with 684 exhibitors out of which 25% were foreigners. 74 countries participated with 70 official delegations. There were 21,500 Professional visitors out of which 23% were foreigners

Please keep in mind that Italy is the fifth largest importer of fruit and vegetables in the EU and 49% of its imports are from developing countries. Last year participation of PHDEC delegation was very successful as direct orders were received even from Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt and Italian Manufacturers of CA and processing technology visited Pakistan afterwards for exploring potential of the upcoming PHDEC projects (like NTC, etc) and technological uplift of the sector.

This year two big Italian distributors Coop Italia and Conad will take part in the 26th edition of this International exhibition. There would be many foreign exhibitors coming from Greece, Great Britain, Turkey, France, Germany, China, Spain, Ecuador, Egypt, Pakistan, Lebanon and other foreign countries. As to Italian exhibitors, the leading companies in the fields of production, technologies, of the IV range and of seeds have confirmed their participation.

The net amount which you pay for the Exhibition Participation is only Rs 154,000 (the DD amount you send to PHDEC). Please see the attached document for details. In fact, PHDEC will bear the major chunk out of each participantís expense and also facilitate the participants in application submission for upto 50% grant from ASF (of all the related expenses including promotional material, space rent, freight, air ticket visa, hotel accommodation, etc). However, keep in mind that if this grant (one person per company) does not get approved, then exhibitors will have to bear all the expenses themselves.

Just send a bank DD of Rs 150,000 in the name of Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company positively by 11th Sep 2009. Also email your passport copy for invitation letter for visa processing as time is very short and it takes atleast 4 weeks for Italian visa.
