PHDEC takes pride in joining hands with TRTA II Programme (UNIDO) for collaboration in horticulture sector.

In a press release issued today by Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (PHDEC), Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan and the European Union (EU) funded Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA II) Programme implemented by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a memorandum of understanding (MOU) is signed between the two organizations. EU/TRTA II programme is focused on export development through improvement of quality infrastructure, improved compliance of export products with market requirements through SPS management, competitiveness, value addition and conformity assessment. The ceremony took place at PHDEC Head Office in Lahore, where Mr. Bashir Hussain (CEO-PHDEC) & Mr. Bruno Valanzuolo, (Chief Technical Advisor, CTA) of TRTA- – Program signed the MOU.
Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (PHDEC) as horticulture sector representative, mandated for the development of Pakistanís horticulture exports, will be implementing partner of UNIDO in all sector related activities under TRTA II program. PHDEC & TRTA II will cooperate in implementation of technical interventions in the areas of development of code of practices for Mango and Kinnow, Pakistan GAP Scheme and benchmarking activities for mango and Kinnow.
Speaking at the occasion, CEO PHDEC Mr. Bashir Hussain said that MOU between PHDEC and UNIDO will provide both organizations a roadmap of collaboration. Mr. Bruno said that collaboration with PHDEC will help the sustainability of the interventions of TRTA II program as PHDEC is well placed to carry forward these interventions.
Mr. Badar-ul-Islam (Program Officer, TRTA II), Mr. Razzaq Malkana (GM, PHDEC) Ms. Nudrat Hussain Khan (GM Marketing, PHDEC), Mr. Sarfraz Iqbal (Sr. Manager Business Development & Projects, PHDEC) were also present at the occasion.
